This series of photos portray inanimate objects as beings, giving each subject their own personality. Each picture also has a certain element of fantasy and has an almost surreal quality to them. I really enjoy taking such Atmospheric Photography. I find such pictures fun to take and it is quite enjoyable to get a reaction out of the viewer. And with that note I submit these photos for your approval:

Stage vs. Street: The Streets on Halloween
I chose street photography because it was halloween, the time of year when the quiet suburban streets are alive with kids lively running door to door for a little bit of candy.
1) Old man crosses the Street
Its an Old Guy. Crossing a street. Not much else to say on that.
2) Nerf on Halloween
What I thought was trick or treaters were actually kids playing with nerf guns. The composition was okay, but with the context of the guns, I can't help but feel as if I'm a photographer on a movie shoot.
3) Trick or Treating with Family Friends
My brothers are too old for trick or treating (HERASY!) but the siblings of their friends aren't. I took pictures of their trick or treat romp.
Bonus: The Costumes
The kids would allow me to take pictures of them If I had taken a photo of them of their costumes. After I goofed the ISO, I had to retake it, but here they are, as I promised them they would be.
Bonus 2: Dead End of Elm Street
I never saw Nightmare on Elm Street, but I could not pass this opportunity up, on Halloween no less...

Assignment 6
Location, Location, Location. I never really understood that saying. Sure, I get the importance of Location, Placement, Enviornment, etc. but I never understood that phrase. But I Digress.
1) Under the Foliage
I feel as if this picture has a sort of Mystical connotation to it. Feels as if I had taken a step into a different world and had turned and looked back.
2)OMINOUS BUILDING
I think I love creepy, sinister, and foreboding shots. They're just so fun to take, especially if the subject matter isn't so creepy, sinister, or foreboding in real life. Other "Ominous Shots" I took that I really like were "A blurry yet still identifiable demonic-looking gargoyle," "Shots of the Mansion that make it loom over the garden," and "Freaky Owl Statue embedded in the wall."
3) You have no idea what I had to do to get this photo
Bees. I can think of at least 3 or 4 pop culture or nerd culture quotes pertaining to bees that would make great title for this, but If I did that It would be like deciding what soda I'm going to drink when the best choice would be to cut the caffeine and just get the water. Bees and I haven't exactly been a good combination. Put me in a room with ladybugs I'll cultivate them into a little colony on my windowsill (true story, though the colony failed spectacularly), let a fly loose and I'll be annoyed and hunt the fly down by sitting alone in the darkness and waiting (that was so successful it has become my standard procedure). Put me in the path of a bee and I'll jump the the side with a frightened gasp. my past experiences with bees haven't been pleasant (not going into it). So I'm taking pictures, see a lovely garden to take pics in and...
Bees. Lots of them. I am proud I didn't go catatonic on spot, but damn this one bee... it was huge, knocked another bee of a flower so it could have it. I just had to get a picture. It didn't take as long to do as I thought It would, but there was no way this photo was not ending up on here after that.
so that was my friday at the arboretum.

Environmental Portraiture
Photos from the next assignment:
1) Andy on the Drums
My brother Andy on the drums. This shot came out better than I thought it would because the basement lighting is terrible. the environment itself is sparse, but I feel that conveys my brother's feeling towards his hobby. only the essentials, no distractions. a lamp, a fan, and a whole lot of musical equipment stored in their little of the basement.
2) Nightly Television
Yeah, even the bird is looking at the TV. despite liking the composition of the piece, and it captures a moment where everything settles down for the evening.

The Color Assignment
This 3rd assignment was actually quite tricky due to the images of your life that it had to include, but I am sure I accomplished both parts of the assignment. I chose the color RED.
1) My Grandmother
Not much to say on this one. My Grandmother treated my family to Ben's. The place happened to work well color-wise for the project. note the red ceiling. and Grandma's red shirt. I like this one because she isn't looking directly at the camera unlike in the other pictures of her.
2) There Was A Fire
When we were leaving Ben's, These guys were out front. The store next door had a small fire. Here the Firefighters are getting ready to return to the station.
3) Flowers
Also outside Ben's. A lady got in the shot. Since she was wearing red, she actually helped the pictures composition in my opinion.
BONUS
Just missed this STOP Sign. I like the composition though.

Light!
Today's subject is LIGHT! *cue lens flare across typed word*
I thought that Shots of the sun were a good place to start, but I eventually made each picture related to the light of the sun (directly or indirectly).
So I started with the sun.
Keeping it simple, I started with Pics that capture the sun in all its glory, well except for the objects that obscured it. I wasn't going to stare directly into the sun to get a pic least I damage my eyes or the camera (Is that possible? I didn't want to find out).
I took a LOT of these kinds of pictures over the weekend, some were meh, but these are my personal favorites.
I then tried sun reflections...
Didn't work out as well. This is pretty much the only decent one.
And I also got this shot with the water. no reflection (as i thought there would be) but I like how the water blends with the light.
Inside the house I tried to get angles that let in natural light:
Again, I was unhappy with the quality of these (for the most part) except for the shots where I used my window to add reflections:
The little glare that always gets in the way when you try to take photos of displayed stuff in glass is finally working in my favor! I like how the sun becomes a sort of tear or light in the last pic.
Bonus!
I took this shot during the Abstraction assignment, but thought it fit in well here, so here it is. The light just bleeds through the image blurring the plant. I could have fixed the focus but I liked it this way.

Abstract Images
The week's assignment of abstraction was quite puzzling at first but I eventually got the hang of it. As such, I took over 40 pictures, many of wich were less abstract than one might hope for. those Images ranged from good to terrible but I decided to keep them in a separate folder in case I may ever need them. Even without those Pictures I had more than enough to complete the assignment. so without further ado, I present the
First thing I'll be posting today is a picture of batman:
See? it's Batman! Okay It's actually a hose but its also batman! for this image I decided to set the shutter speed longer to make the exposure longer and see what I get. What I got was batman. the hose rack-thing forms his head and ears while the sweeping motion of the hose suggests the edge of his cape. still don't see him? I'll post an outline of his shape then.
Next up on is an image I like to call Straw Hive:
When I saw this in the cupboard, I thought it looked kind of like a beehive. when I took it out the box like container turned out to be very warped, and despite several tries to get it square, I decided "screw it" and take the picture as is. At first I thought the result was okay, but upon uploading it to the computer I realized that the small compressed view-screen is terrible at showing the image. the natural look of the warped box made the subject look more like a beehive. after snapping a few photos, I had to shove the damn thing back into place in the cupboard. It may look nice in this picture, but I hate that stupid box.
One last Image for now:
I don't know what to say about this. This image was one of many of the fence/tree/sky motion images and possibly my favorite. why? because I can't remember where I took it. All the other images I can recall exactly where I stood and what is being blended, but this image, is it the tree and white fence? or the bush and the other white fence? despite the large blurred strokes in this picture (the least clear of all the blurred images) you can still tell that the subject is some green foliage and a white fence. plus it also looks vaguely like a barcode.
